French Connection II

1975

John Frankenheimer
Director

Popeye Doyle's failure to capture heroin smuggler Charnier (Fernando Rey) fours years ago leads him to Marseille, France to hunt him down.

So-so sequel, most noticable by Roy Scheider's absence (he was off filming some shark picture at the time) and a sloppy director, whose scenes are poorly edited together with little suspense and lacking the same punch as the first film. See also The French Connection (1971)
